STATEMENTI’m honored to be running for IAND President-elect position because I truly believe that with my past experiences and current work that I would be able to productively contribute and lead the IAND leadership team in many positive ways. My biggest attribute is connecting with the community and bringing people together, which I believe we need now more than ever. As IAND’s Diversity Liaison this year, I’ve managed to create a 20-member committee that is focused on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at the IL level. I’m currently working with various RDs and RD-to-be students on a few big projects:
Previously, as Chicago AND president and president-elect, I was able to achieve one of the highest numbers for membership in the past few years and sell out events for our dinner meetings. I attribute all of that to being able to connect with the community, marketing our organizations/ events in a fun and positive light, and being authentic to who I am in-person and virtually. I’ve been proven to be a strong leader and a valuable team player. I believe a successful team is one where all members are heard and all ideas are considered, whether or not they end up being utilized. I think the times I’ve succeeded were all times where collectively we came up with great ideas, listened to each other, and really focused on what others are telling you they need to help solve a problem. I value transparency and expectations that are laid out ahead of time and checked in on periodically to ensure that they’re completed. Communication and being detail oriented is key and the underlying theme of all this, which I am capable of and excel in. With all that, I am certain I have a lot to offer IAND’s leadership team moving forward. |
