There's an App for That! Strategies to Integrate Apps into Clinical Practice


Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are well positioned to recommend helpful apps to patients based on personal preferences and treatment goals. Patients will be more likely to utilize an app when best-practices on their usage is explored and limitations and safety concerns are reviewed. This presentation will discuss the strengths and challenges of mobile health apps, how to identify high quality apps, and discuss creative ways through case studies to integrate these tools into clinical practice to help achieve positive clinical outcomes.

Speaker: 

Rachel Stahl Salzman, MS, RDN, CDN, CDCES, is Lecturer in Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) in NYC. Rachel’s clinical focus is on using individualized nutrition therapy strategies and behavior modification, diabetes technology, and digital healthcare to achieve better health outcomes. Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received her Master’s of Science Degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University. Rachel is the proud recipient of the 2022 Rising Star Award from the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists.
