"I am currently serving as the first RD hired for the Cook County Health Cancer Center and am working to build out a comprehensive nutrition program including implementation of a validated screening tool within the electronic medical record system, referral and assessment process to monitor patients at risk for malnutrition or other nutrition related challenges during the cancer care continuum. I am responsible for organizing and tracking data related to my role to report to the Commission on Cancer in order to fulfill standard 7.4 set forth by the American College of Surgeons to maintain accreditation for our Cancer Center. Being the only RD, I have coordinated with other oncology dietitians via the Oncology DPG, phone calls, meetings and email correspondence to identify and bring best practices for an outpatient oncology nutrition program to Cook County Health."
