First of all, welcome!  Thank you for joining Rock River Valley Dietetic Association, this year we have an exciting new team of leaders that are all very excited to bring you a variety of different programs this year.  Our very first event this year will be September 18 5:30-8:00pm at Angelics Organics Farm (1547 Rockton Rd, Caledonia, IL).  This venue was voted on by members to be a great experience for one of our fall meetings.   Please RSVP to Angela Bianchi (1812 Valencia Dr. Rockford, IL 61108, cost will be $25 per person.  This dinner will feature a tour of the sustainable farm, as well as cooking stations where we will prepare a variety of different foods, appetizers, and desserts all from the farm!

President-elect, Lauren Moore has quite a few programs already lined up for RRVDA association ranging from food allergies, nutrition and the media, and nutrition research from some of our very own NIU dietetic interns.  Be watching your emails for the upcoming dates of these.  The dates of these programs will also be listed under IDA’s newly designed website (eatrightillinois.org).

Some of my goals for RRVDA this year are:

1.)    Increase visibility of our profession

2.)    Become more media savvy in terms of social networking, newspaper, news, etc

3.)    Give back to the community by doing at least 1 nutrition outreach activity

a.       This will be discussed at our meetings

Looking forward to getting to know you all better this coming year and very excited for our first presentation!  I hope to see you all there September 18 at Angelic’s farms!
