President's Message

Ashley Simper MS RD LDN

I’m excited to enter a new year with CIDA as President.  I’ve worked my way up the ranks of various CIDA positions, starting as Membership Chair 6 years ago.  I have really enjoyed getting to know all the members and networking is a huge benefit to joining the association.  I have watched the membership grow from around 50 members when I started to over 70 last year!  We hope to keep growing and offering a wonderful community for local dietitians. 

Program planning is underway and we are looking forward to offering you 8 CEUs .  We will also continue to work with ISU on offering 12 CEUs through their journal club.  Don’t forget to renew your membership and spread the word to your fellow colleagues about joining CIDA this year.  Just a reminder that our primary contact will be through email-blasts, so if you prefer to be contacted another way, let us know.

I will be attending a leadership conference in Chicago in late June so if anyone has anything they want discussed or questioned, let me know.   I look forward to meeting you all and hope that you enjoy the 2012-2013 year with CIDA.

Details: Join Certified Wellness Coaches, Miriam Troutner, MS, RD, LDN and Shanell Jones, MS, RD, LDN as they discuss the concept of Wellness Coaching in the Dietetics setting.  Learn about creating a ‘Vision’ for your clients’ wellness, the importance of goal setting and other techniques that will spark conversation and positive behavior change.

Details: Illinois State University dietetic interns and faculty share their experiences of traveling overseas during an Italy study tour. Also included in the presentation will be an intern’s 3-week experience in Turkey exploring the export of soy with the College of Business.
